PRX 3333 - Entrepreneurship for Pharmacists

Today pharmacists are embracing new opportunities for patient-centered care by engaging in activities such as medication therapy management, disease state management, health and wellness screenings, and immunizations. In addition to these expanding roles, pharmacists are also expected to manage people, inventory, expenses, improve quality, work collaboratively with the patient’s healthcare team, and provide personalized customer service. Students need to recognize that healthcare is a business and to grow pharmacy services and improve patient care, pharmacy leaders must be knowledgeable not only in clinical skills and science but also entrepreneurial skills.
The purpose of this course is to prepare student pharmacists to be able to recognize and take advantage of entrepreneurial opportunities. The first goal is to explore the importance of Christian leadership and business knowledge, shaping pharmacy practice through case studies, industry benchmarks, and best practices. The second goal is to provide students with an interactive and motivation entrepreneurial educational experience through interaction with entrepreneurial ideas from many areas of business.
Finally, goal three is to develop entrepreneurial critical thinking skills to enhance innovation, passion, and success in the student’s pharmacy practice and personal entrepreneurial activity.
