BUS 3063 - Volunteer & Board Development for Non-Profit Organizations

This course will examine a variety of issues in the effective recruitment, management and empowerment of people working in nonprofit organizations with a nonexclusive emphasis on volunteers. The role of volunteerism in society and how volunteer service, at all levels of the nonprofit organization, is effectively utilized by various types of nonprofits will be explored. Topics will include recruiting policies and practices, compensation packages and other incentives, training and personal investment, and methods of evaluation. Special emphasis will be focused on board selection, governance, and development, and the role of the board of directors as a special kind of volunteer human resource.

Prerequisite: BUM 2183 , MAT 1853
