As part of the community of scholars at Palm Beach Atlantic University, the faculty of the Department of Psychology have incorporated the goals of acquisition, advancement, and dissemination of empirically-derived knowledge associated with the psychological and neurobehavioral sciences. Emphasizing a variety of methodological, theoretical, and practical approaches, our department nurtures rigorous skepticism in the pursuit of knowledge, an appreciation of psychology within the history of scholarly inquiry, and a recognition of how the methods of psychology are applied in our search for the truth. Grounded in a Christian worldview, the program is designed with the expressed goal of training the next generation of empirically informed, thoughtful professionals in the psychological sciences. Therefore, in collaboration with students, the department seeks to foster a learning community in which faculty and students alike acquire and share knowledge about the psychological experiences and behavior of humans and animals.
