The mission of the Public Relations program of study is to offer undergraduate students a rigorous education, which balances the breadth of varied professional applications with the depth of a foundation within a Christian worldview, and fosters well-rounded, socially responsible graduates who are prepared for either professional employment or graduate school. Students will learn to apply foundational Christian principles to the area of public relations known as Corporate Social Responsibility in order to become servant leaders of high moral character who can undertake socially responsible behavior to implement programs that build mutually beneficial relationships.

Admission Requirements

In addition to University application procedures, prospective students seeking to pursue the Public Relations major must file an application with the School of Communication and Media. All applicants must submit an essay of approximately 1,000 words, which must address why the candidate believes he or she is called to a career in Public Relations. Most students are admitted into the Public Relations program at the beginning of their freshman year. Students already studying at Palm Beach Atlantic University, either in another program of study or as an undeclared major, may not gain acceptance into the Public Relations program with only a Change of Major form. Rather, such students must follow the process outlined above for admittance into the major.

Public Relations majors must maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA in all Public Relations classes and maintain a minimum of a 2.75 GPA overall.  If a Public Relations student falls below either of the GPA averages, he/she will be placed on probation for the following semester.  If a student fails to increase their GPA to the minimum level during the probation semester, they will be removed from the major.  Students in the Public Relations major who later withdraw from PBA or after suspension or dismissal from the University must apply for readmission to the program of study. Applications are available in the Office of the Dean of the School of Communication and Media.
