Pre-Professional Course Requirements


Admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree program requires 66-67 semester hours of pre-professional education at an accredited college or university. Minimum specific course requirements are:

  1. Candidates must complete at least 33 of the 66-67 hours listed below at PBA.
  2. Grades below “C-” cannot be accepted toward completion of these requirements. A failed course taken at a previous institution can be retaken at PBA but cannot count towards your 33 credit hours.
  3. The minimum cumulative and science (Chemistry, Biology, and Math) grade point average (GPA) requirement is 3.4.
  4. The minimum PCAT requirement is 70% (composite).
  5. All science courses (Chemistry, Biology, and Physics) must include a laboratory.
  6. All prerequisites must be completed by May of the year seeking admission into the Gregory School of Pharmacy.

Pharmacy College Admission Test


The Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) should be taken in October but no later than January, of the year prior to application for acceptance into the School of Pharmacy. Students must score at least 70% on the composite score.

Interview/Admissions Committee


Eligible students (students in the year prior to matriculation into the School of Pharmacy) will be invited to an interview day at the School of Pharmacy. The student will interview with a Pharmacy faculty member, a Pharmacy student, and complete a writing assignment as well as a chemistry and math quiz. The admissions committee must recommend the student for admissions.

Pharmacy Transfer Students


Students who transfer to Palm Beach Atlantic University to complete their pre-pharmacy undergraduate requirements MAY be eligible for participation in the Guaranteed Admissions Program. To qualify, a transfer student MUST:

  1. Complete at least one full academic year (Fall/Spring semesters) at PBA.
  2. Complete at least 33 credit hours of the 66-67 hours of pre-professional courses at PBA. These 33 credit hours cannot have been taken previously at another institution.
  3. Fulfill all of the requirements for guaranteed admissions listed for the PBA undergraduate pre-pharmacy program, except credit hours for Humanities may include Social/Behavioral Studies.
  4. Complete an application to the School of Pharmacy.
  5. Complete the 66-67 hours of pre-professional courses with a minimum grade point average of 3.4 for both cumulative and science courses (GPA will be calculated in the same manner as through the Pharmacy College Application Service).
  6. Take the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) and score at least 70% on the composite score. The PCAT must be taken no later than the January date.
  7. Be interviewed by the Pharmacy Campus Interview team and receive an unconditional favorable recommendation from the School of Pharmacy admissions committee.
  8. Provide three letters of recommendation. These should be from professors, academic advisors, employers, or supervisors of volunteer activities. (A letter from a registered pharmacist is recommended, but not required.)

PBA students who fulfill the interview for admission requirements will be required to apply through the Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS).

Pre-Pharmacy Transfer Students And Guaranteed Admission


Students who transfer to PBA but complete less than one full academic year at PBA or students who attend PBA but do not fulfill the guaranteed interview for admission requirements are not eligible for the Guaranteed Interview Program. Under these conditions, students must apply through the Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS).
