Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) majors must successfully complete (with a grade of C- or higher) all PPE required courses, general education courses, language courses, and any labs. Masters of Global Development students must complete all degree requirements of the Masters of Global Development program.

General Education Requirements - 43 Credit Hours


PPE majors must meet the Baccalaureate Degree Requirements   as set out in General Education Program  .


One course must be selected from each of the following lists of Global Studies and Social Science courses. PPE majors must note that no course taken in satisfaction of the PPE major requirements may also count towards the satisfaction of either the Global Studies requirement or the Social Sciences requirement.

School of Arts and Sciences Additional Natural Science Requirements - 5 Credit Hours


Students in the School of Arts and Sciences must take five additional hours of natural science: 1 lab to accompany the course taken for general education [BIO 1043 , BIO 1023 , ESC 1043 , OCY 1043 , FOR 1003  , PHY 1033 , PHY 1063 , or PHY 2113  and one additional natural science course and accompanying lab. The two natural sciences must be in different areas (one BIO and one other). In sum, students are required to take a minimum of 8 hours of natural science courses: two natural science courses (one biological science and one other) along with the labs associated with each. We recommend Psychology majors take BIO 1043   and BIO 1041  (lab) to fulfill one science requirement.

Foreign Language Requirement


PPE majors are required to take four consecutive semesters of a foreign language, and all four semesters must be in the same language.


No CLEP, AP, IB or transient study credits may be used to fulfill this requirement.  Students may take elementary or intermediate language courses or a combination of both.

Masters of Global Development Degree Requirements


Prerequisites: One course in Economics (BUS 2343 - Principles of Macroeconomics  ornBUS 2353 - Principles of Microeconomics  .)

Concentrations: (a) “Development Economics and Finance”, (b) “Development Policy”, or (c) “Applied Cultural Studies”

Note:


Undergraduates who major in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) are required to take multiple philosophy courses. PPE majors may count the following courses toward the requirements for a philosophy major or philosophy minor.
