Program Learning Outcomes


“Expected student learning outcomes specify the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes students are expected to attain in courses or in a program.” Page 69. Resource Manual for the Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), 2018.

  1. Develop proficiency in communicating among strategic publics using various modes and channels. 
  2. Understand how organizations are embedded in social contexts and their responsibilities in those contexts.
  3. Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  4. Identify ethical issues between competing publics through use of ethical communications.

General Education Requirements - 43 Credit Hours


Public Relations majors must meet the Baccalaureate Degree Requirements  as set out in the General Education Program .

Note:


Incoming students must take COM 1113 - Public Speaking , ENG 1113 - English Composition I , and ENG 1123 - English Composition II  during their freshman year. Students transferring to PBA after their freshman year must take these courses within their first two semesters of study.

* Students majoring in Public Relations are strongly advised to take their internship in the summer semester between their junior and senior years.

BUM 2183  and BUR 2153  have pre-requisites that the student must first fulfill before the course can be taken for elective credit.

*A minor and 17-20 additional credit hours are required to meet the 120 total and the 42 upper-division credit hour requirements.
