Cinema Arts, B.A.

Program Learning Outcomes


“Expected student learning outcomes specify the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes students are expected to attain in courses or in a program.” Page 69. Resource Manual for the Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), 2018.

  1. Articulate the various elements of story structure in moving pictures and apply that knowledge to a specific profession within the entertainment industry. 
  2. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of redemptive storytelling in relation to a Christian worldview through film and television activities.
  3. Students should be able to dynamically communicate narratives utilizing various aesthetic and technological storytelling tools. 
  4. Demonstrate through coursework an understanding of historical significance for cinema-television and mass media. 

Graduation Requirements


Conferral of a Baccalaureate degree in this program of study is determined by successful completion of the Baccalaureate Graduation Requirements outlined here .

NOTE: Students must earn 42 upper level (3000-4000) credit hours in order to graduate. A total of at least 21 of these upper level credit hours must be completed in the selected major.

Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) - 43 Credit Hours


Students are required to fulfill all Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) requirements  as laid out in the Baccalaureate Degree Requirements (Bachelor’s Degrees) . The Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) Global Studies and Fine Arts requirements are fulfilled through other courses in this major. Only 37 of the 43 credit hours of the Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) program will still be required for the completion of this program.

Cinema Arts Major - 46-52 Credit Hours


Production Lab - 10-16 Credit Hours


All Cinema Arts majors must enroll in and successfully complete CIN 3002 - Cinema Lab  in each semester beginning upon declaration of their major. This lab may be repeated for a total of up to 16 credit hours.

Theatre Requirement - 2 Credit Hours


  • Any THE Course(s) - 2 Credit Hours (fulfills the Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) Fine Arts requirement)

Additional Required Credit Hours - 31-37 Credit Hours


This program must include a minor or an additional major.
