Crisis and Trauma Counseling Certificate

The Crisis and Trauma Clinical Counseling Certificate involves a three course series within the Counselor Education program designed for counselors, clinicians and treatment specialists who wish to provide trauma-informed care to crisis and trauma survivors. This certificate echos the program’s core value of being “Distinctly Christian, Clinical Professional.” Completion of the certificate will enhance qualifications and competencies in client-centered trauma informed interventions as well as the ability to engage in program development and implementation through a comprehensive understanding of the impact of trauma on functioning, resilience and wellness.

The certificate is available to non-degree seeking individuals that are currently enrolled in or have completed a Master or Doctoral degree in counseling or a related discipline. Students currently enrolled in PBA’s Counselor Education program are not eligible for this certificate, but can complete these courses under the concentration in Crisis and Trauma Counseling. The Crisis and Trauma Clinical Counseling Certificate is a total of 9 credit hours spread over three eight week courses, to be completed in six months, but not to exceed three years. A minimum of a 3.0 GPA is required across all courses for the certificate to be awarded; courses cannot be replaced with transfer credits. All courses are provided in a completely distance learning format inclusive of synchronous didactic face-to-face interaction with professors and classmates.
