Program Learning Outcomes

“Expected student learning outcomes specify the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes students are expected to attain in courses or in a program.” Page 69. Resource Manual for the Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), 2019.

1. Students must demonstrate artistic and technical proficiency of established various dance genres through technique course studies and performing stylistic dances.
2. Students must articulate their craft and their critical and abstract thinking through interpersonal communication skills, synthesizing historical, cultural, and current perspectives.
3. Students must create and perform works independently and collaboratively, using established and innovative approaches to create artistic works for production and evaluation.
4. Students must demonstrate the characteristics of a Christ-like servant leader by recognizing community needs and societal issues and addressing them through artistic connections.
5. Students must demonstrate competent leadership skills by expressing humility, boldness, and professionalism required both on and off campus.

Graduation Requirements

Conferral of a Baccalaureate degree in this program of study is determined by successful completion of the Baccalaureate Graduation Requirements outlined here .

NOTE: Students must earn 42 upper level (3000-4000) credit hours in order to graduate. A total of at least 21 of these upper level credit hours must be completed in the selected major.

Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) Requirements - 43 Credit Hours

The Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) Fine Arts requirement is fulfilled through other courses in this major. Only 41 of the 43 credit hours of the Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) Program will still be required for the completion of this program.

Dance, B.A. Major - 45 Credit Hours

Additional Required Credit Hours - 32 Credit Hours

This program must include a minor or an additional major.

• In addition to a minor or second major, students are encouraged to take dance classes from the following list as their electives, but are not required to. Also, students have the option to select from the courses listed above.

• MUS 4992 - Entrepreneurship in the Arts
