PHR 1213 - Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics3 Credit Hours Pharmacokinetics is the study of the mathematical time course of absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination (ADME) in the body using compartmental and non-compartmental analysis; topics include general concepts of one- and two-compartment models and linear and nonlinear pharmacokinetics. Emphasis is placed on determination of pharmacokinetic parameters from plasma/urine data after single or multiple doses via the following routes of administration: intravenous bolus injection, intravenous infusion and oral. Additionally, the course includes biopharmaceutics, bioavailability/bioequivalence of drug products and pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic correlations.
