PHR 2223 - Literature Evaluation3 Credit Hours This course provides students with skills to effectively analyze and interpret medical literature. Course content includes an introduction to clinical study designs, and application of commonly used descriptive and inferential statistics. A major focus will be the concept of the null hypothesis, the importance of p values, and the difference between statistical and clinical significance and potential sources of error in a scientific study. Students will be expected to interpret and evaluate information in clinical trials and extrapolate from that information to aid in making patient care decisions. Students will be required to assess several articles for validity, accuracy and clinical significance.
Prerequisite: PHR 1132 , PHR 2145 , PHR 2152
