PRX 4086 - Emergency Medicine-Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience

6 Credit Hours
This elective rotation is designed for students to apply knowledge and skills acquired through didactic education and pharmacy practice experiences to clinical pharmacy practice in an emergency department setting. Students will be responsible for providing direct patient care in collaboration with physicians and other health care providers by actively participating in patient interviews and drug therapy management. Students will be responsible for developing pharmaceutical care plans, obtaining complete and accurate medication histories, reconciling medications for patients admitted and providing education to both patients and health care providers. Skills developed during the rotation emphasize drug knowledge, pharmacotherapy plan development, and communication skills with patients, caregivers, and other health care team members.

Prerequisite: Completion of P1, P2, and P3 courses
