PLS 4133 - American Constitutionalism: Structures of Government3 Credit Hour(s) This course examines national powers under the U.S. Constitution. The course begins by reviewing the founding and design of the Constitution and the major approaches to constitutional interpretation. The course will then study the principle of judicial review and the powers of the courts in constitutional adjudication. The next focus of the class will be on federal executive, war, foreign affairs, and legislative powers, primarily as they have been treated in U.S. Supreme Court decisions. The course will also examine constitutional separation of powers, federalism, national supremacy, and state powers.
