PLS 3323 - Classical and Christian Political Thought

3 Credit Hour(s)
This course examines seminal texts of major Classical and Christian authors, including Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, Seneca, Augustine, and Aquinas, in order to explore the foundations of Western political thought. Course topics include the nature and purpose of politics; the quest for the best form of government; the meaning of justice, freedom, authority, order, law, and the common good: and the relationship between religion and politics, church and state. This course concludes with an examination of contemporary Christian thinkers that analyze the relationship between Christianity and democracy.
