FOR 4133 - Forensic Quality Assurance and Professional Practice

This course outlines typical forensic science errors that can occur in a forensic laboratory. It discusses judgment, bias, misconduct, carelessness, professional incompetence, and insufficient validation of procedures and techniques that affect forensic quality assurance. It introduces and provides students with insight into laboratory quality assurance and quality control, as well as the role of accreditation and certification in ensuring the integrity of physical evidence and its analysis. The anticipated professional ethics of forensic scientists, along with the common ethical dilemmas they face, are also addressed.
