Undergraduate Pre-Pharmacy Program

The Pre-Pharmacy Program at Palm Beach Atlantic University is a part of the undergraduate program of the university. Pre-pharmacy students are classified as majoring in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry with a Pharmaceutical Concentration. The major in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry with a Pharmaceutical Concentration incorporates most of the pre-professional course requirements for admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree program. Each pre-pharmacy student is assigned a faculty advisor from among the full-time chemistry faculty, who assists in providing the student a successful pre-pharmacy experience.

The major in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry with a Pharmaceutical Concentration provides the pre-pharmacy student with considerable flexibility. A student can:

  • Apply for admission to the school of pharmacy after completing all pre-pharmacy requirements (usually at the end of the 2nd year of study).
  • Complete the three-year undergraduate portion of the Medicinal and Biological Chemistry with a Pharmaceutical Concentration program, apply to the Gregory School of Pharmacy, and upon completing the first year of the pharmacy program, receive the Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Complete the four year Medicinal and Biological Chemistry with a Biological Concentration program, and apply for admission to the School of Pharmacy.

The description of the Major in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry with a Pharmaceutical Concentration and with a Biological Concentration can be found within the Chemistry/Physics section (Programs of Study ) of this catalog.
