General Education Requirements

The specific courses listed below are reqular General Education offerings in the evening and/or online contexts. Fully online students should look for corresponding course codes that begin with the “E” prefix, such as “EMIN 1003”. Students who complete courses from PBA’s daytime catalog through a prior major, by transfer evaluations, or by arrangements to enroll directly in a daytime course, may satisfy evening/online General Education requirements as outlined below.

Orientation - 3 Credit Hours
Note: All evening and online students are required to take an Orientation course, the evening/online equivalent of the “First Year Experience” course required of day students. This requirement is met by taking ORL 1003 for students in the MacArthur School of Leadership, the Rinker School of Business, or the School of Arts and Sciences, MIN 2003 for students in the School of Ministry, and ENUR 3803 for students in the School of Nursing. The required Orientation course should be taken in a student’s first semester.
Biblical Studies - 6 Credit Hours
Note: MIN 4153 is a capstone course and should be taken during the student’s final semester of study.
Communication - 9 Credit Hours
Humanities - 14 Credit Hours
Social Science Courses - 3 Credit Hours

Global Studies - 3-4 Credit Hours
Students should select one of the following; please refer to the Programs of Study to determine the appropriate selection for students in each major.
Mathematics and Science - 6 Credit Hours
- GMAT 1803 - Survey of Finite Mathematics 3 Credit Hours
(or any other course listed in PBA’s daytime catalog as an approved General Education Mathematics course. Students in certain majors may be required to complete math courses offered only through PBA’s daytime catalog; please refer to the Programs of Study to determine the appropriate selection for students in each major.)
- GSCI 1013 - Introduction to Oceanography 3 Credit Hours or
- GSCI 1333 - Introduction to Natural Science 3 Credit Hours
(or any other course listed in PBA’s daytime catalog as an approved General Education Science course. Students in certain majors may be required to complete science courses and/or corresponding science labs offered only through PBA’s daytime catalog; please refer to the Programs of Study to determine the appropriate selection for students in each major.)
