General Education Requirements - 43 Credit Hours


Cinema Arts majors must meet the Baccalaureate Degree Requirements  as set out in the General Education Program .

General Education Recommendations


  • Fine Arts Requirement: Cinema Arts majors must take any Theatre (THE) course for a minimum of two credit hours to fulfill the Fine Arts requirement.
  • Global Studies Requirement: Cinema Arts majors must take CIN 3123 - International Cinema  to fulfill the Global Studies requirement.
  • Social Science Requirement: Cinema Arts majors should carefully consider taking COM 3573   - Communication Research Methods to fulfill the Social Science requirement.

Production Labs - 5-6 Credit Hours


All Cinema Arts majors must enroll in and successfully complete CIN 3021   - Cinema-Television Production Lab in each semester their freshman year through their junior year.  Students admitted to the Cinema Arts major after the start of the first semester of their freshman year must enroll in and successfully complete this lab in each subsequent semester upon declaration of their major through their junior year.  This lab may be repeated for a total of 6 credit hours.
