Program Learning Outcomes


“Expected student learning outcomes specify the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes students are expected to attain in courses or in a program.” Page 69. Resource Manual for the Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), 2018.

  1. Create theatrical productions in a collaborative and comprehensive process while recognizing their place in the larger context of the liberal arts. 
  2. Evaluate scripts for conceptual, redemptive and dramatic value, and apply analyses within their craft.
  3. Demonstrate a broad knowledge of dramatic literature and the history of theatre and apply praxis.
  4. Evaluate the challenges of being a Christian in theatre and articulate how faith informs ones choices as a theatre practitioner.

General Education Requirements - 38 Credit Hours


Theatre majors must meet the Baccalaureate Degree Requirements  as set out in the General Education Program .

  • Fine Art Requirement: Theatre majors fulfill the two-hour fine arts elective through major study.
  • Global Studies Requirement: Theatre majors fulfill the three-hour global studies elective through major study.

General Education Recommendations


Social Science Requirement: Theatre majors should carefully consider taking COM 3573   - Communication Research Methods to fulfill the Social Science requirement.
