Master of Divinity + Master of Science, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Dual Degrees (MDiv+MSCMHC)

Aims and Outcomes

The Master of Divinity and Master of Science, Clinical Mental Health Counseling dual degree program (MDiv + MSCMHC) is for students who wish to combine vocational ministry training with academic and practical preparation for counseling practice. Program Length

Dual degrees allow students to complete two degrees simultaneously with fewer credit hours required than if completing those degrees separately. Dual-degree students can complete the dual-degree requirements in four years (12 credit hours each semester, in addition to Summer courses). At an accelerated pace, it is possible to complete the degree requirements in three years (15 credit hours each semester, in addition to Summer courses), depending on course availability. Admission

Dual-degree applicants must be accepted into each program independently. The MACS + MSCMHC dual degree program is not available in the MDiv evening/weekend modality. The admission requirements and process for each degree may be found in the relevant Admission  section of the Graduate and Pharmacy Catalog.

Degree Requirements

All dual-degree students studying for the MDiv + MSCMHC dual degrees (117 credit hours) will complete the specified MDiv and MSCMHC courses. For the MDiv, dual-degree students will complete the integrated core (36 credit hours), MDiv ministry-training courses (9 credit hours), and biblical languages (12 credit hours). For the MSCMHC, dual-degree students will complete twenty specified courses (60 credit hours). Below are the specific dual-degree requirements for the MDiv + MSCMHC dual degrees:

MDiv Integrated Core - 36 Credit Hours


MDiv Training for Ministry - 9 Credit Hours


MDiv Biblical Languages - 12 Credit Hours


Students may choose from Hebrew and/or Greek courses at the Elementary, Intermediate, and/or Advanced level: BIB 5033 , BIB 5013 , BIB 5043 , BIB 5023 , BIB 5113 , BIB 5203 , BIB 5123 , BIB 5213 , BIB 6103 , BIB 6233 , BIB 6113 , BIB 6243 . For students without previous biblical languages, it is recommended they take all four courses in the same biblical language.
