Graduation Requirements
Conferral of a Baccalaureate degree in this program of study is determined by successful completion of the Baccalaureate Graduation Requirements outlined here .
NOTE: Students must earn 42 upper level (3000-4000) credit hours in order to graduate. A total of at least 21 of these upper level credit hours must be completed in the selected major.

Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) - 43 Credit Hours
PPE majors must meet the Baccalaureate Degree Requirements as set out in Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) Program .
It is highly recommended students choose an upper level course for the completion of both the Global Studies requirement as well as the Social Science requirement to meet the 42 upper level hours required for degree conferral. PPE majors must note that no course taken in satisfaction of the PPE major requirements may also count towards the satisfaction of either the Global Studies requirement or the Social Sciences requirement.
A grade of at least C- is required for Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) coursework in this program.
Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, B.A. Program - 62 Credit Hours
PPE Major - 45 Credit Hours
Philosophy Courses - 12 Credit Hours
Politics Courses - 6 Credit Hours
Select any three (3) PLS courses at the 3000 level or above.
Economics Courses - 9 Credit Hours
Select any THREE courses from the following list
School of Liberal Arts and Sciences Additional Natural Science Requirements - 5 Credit Hours
Five additional hours of natural science: 1 lab to accompany the course taken for general education [BIO 1043 , BIO 1023 , ESC 1043 , OCY 1043 , PHY 1033 or PHY 1063 ], and one additional natural science course and accompanying lab. The two natural sciences must be in different areas: one must be a life science (biology) and the other must be a physical science (chemistry, physics, oceanography, earth science, or forensic science). In sum, students are required to take a minimum of 8 hours of natural science courses (one life science and one physical science, with their associated labs).
Modern Language Requirement - 12 Credit Hours
PPE majors are required to take four semesters of a modern language.
No CLEP, AP, IB or transient study credits may be used to fulfill this requirement. Students may take elementary or intermediate language courses or a combination of both.
Additional Required Credit Hours - 6 Credit Hours
These additional hours must be upper level (3000-4000 level) and may be fulfilled by a minor, second major, general electives taken concurrently, previous coursework taken at PBA or through transfer credits.
Masters of International Development Program - 42 Credit Hours
Masters of International Development students must complete all degree requirements of the Masters of International Development program.
Concentrations: (a) “Development Economics and Finance”, (b) “Development Policy”, or (c) “Applied Cultural Studies”
Managerial Competence - 9 Credit Hours

Special Topics Course
Occasionally the department will offer a special topics course which may be counted towards one of the categories above.

Note:
Undergraduates who major in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) are required to take multiple philosophy courses. PPE majors may count the courses taken for the satisfaction of the Philosophy component of the PPE undergraduate degree as satisfying the requirements for the undergraduate minor in Philosophy.
