Aims and Outcomes

The Master of Divinity/Master of Business Administration is awarded jointly by the School of Ministry and the Rinker School of Business. The goal of the M.Div./M.B.A. Dual Degree is to educate students to assume responsibilities as executive and administrative ministers for churches or para-church organizations. The program is directed toward providing didactic and experiential education to students that will allow them to:

  1. develop the biblical, theological and historical knowledge to assist leading and administering a church or para-church organization; and,
  2. design and implement strategies and policies that produce effective management practices within a ministry context.

Program Length

Dual degrees allow students to complete two degrees simultaneously with fewer credit hours required than if completing those degrees separately. Dual-degree students can complete the dual-degree requirements in three years (12 credit hours each semester, in addition to Summer courses). At an accelerated pace, it is possible to complete the degree requirements in two and one half years (15 credit hours each semester, in addition to Summer courses). Degree Requirements

All dual-degree students studying for the MDiv + MBA dual degrees (93 credit hours) will complete the specified MDiv and MBA courses. For the MDiv, dual-degree students will complete the integrated core (36 credit hours), MDiv ministry-training courses (15 credit hours), and biblical languages (12 credit hours). For the MBA, dual-degree students will complete 27 credit hours of specified courses. Dual-degree students will also complete 6 credit hours of MBA/MDiv integrative work. Below are the specific dual-degree requirements for the MDiv + MBA dual degrees:

Biblical Languages - 12 Credit Hours


Students may choose from Hebrew and/or Greek courses at the Elementary, Intermediate, and/or Advanced level: BIB 5013 , BIB 5023 , BIB 5203 , BIB 5213 , BIB 6233 , BIB 6243 , BIB 5033 , BIB 5043 , BIB 5113 , BIB 5123 , BIB 6103 , BIB 6113 . For students without previous biblical languages, it is recommended they take all four courses in the same biblical language.

Students who have completed Intermediate Greek or Intermediate Hebrew courses at the undergraduate level (BIB 3053, BIB 3063, BIB 3183, BIB 3193 or equivalent) satisfy up to 6 credit hours (50%) of the biblical language requirement for the MDIV.  These students may satisfy the biblical language requirement with 6 credit hours of Greek or Hebrew courses and 6 credit hours of any graduate-level courses offered within the School of Ministry.
