Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) Coursework - 43 Credit Hours
This is a broad overview of courses that are approved to satisfy Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) requirements. Your major may specify your Faith, Roots, and Reason course selections in one or more categories. For a list of major-specific course requirements, refer to your major in the Programs of Study. Your ability to select any particular course listed may also vary depending on your student population. Credit hours indicated in the heading above and in the categories below reflect the minimum number of credits that are needed to satisfy Faith, Roots, and Reason requirements. Your required credit hours may be higher based on your selected major and your student population. Faith, Roots, and Reason First-Year Requirements Full-time students should complete the Faith, Roots, and Reason courses marked as “first-year requirements” by the end of their first year at PBA. See the First-Year Student Requirements section of the Academic Policies page for additional details. I. Biblical and Theological Studies - 6 Credit Hours

Global Studies Menu
The approved courses below fulfill the 3-credit-hour Global Studies requirement. No PBA course substitutions will be permitted. Before registering for a course, you MUST verify that the course is approved in your specific program of study. For a list of major-specific Global Studies options, refer to your major in the Programs of Study. IV. Science and Mathematics* - 6 Credit Hours

West Palm Beach Students:
- FYE 1001 - First Year Experience *
*FYE First Year Experience is required for all West Palm Beach and Orlando undergraduate students entering with fewer than 30 credit hours.
However, based on the criteria listed below for transferrable college-level credits completed at an institutionally accredited degree-granting post-secondary institution,** the FYE 1001 requirement shall be deemed as waived or met. Rules related to Palm Beach Atlantic University’s current transfer credit policy noted in Academic Policies apply.
For transfers who have successfully completed:
- 30 or more transferrable credits OR
- Between 25 and 29 transferrable credits AND
- A closely equivalent FYE or College Success course with a grade of “C-” or above
For freshmen with hours who have successfully completed:
- Full-time status—a minimum of 12 semester credit hours—for at least one semester or term at an accredited** post-secondary institution AND
- Over 25 transferrable credit hours AND
- A closely equivalent FYE or College Success course with a grade of “C-” or above
** PBA’s 30 credit hour residency requirement applies to transfer credits completed at degree-granting postsecondary institutions solely with national accreditations recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the coursework was completed. Upon the successful completion of 30 credit hours at PBA (with a 2.0 PBA cumulative GPA or higher), students must seek transfer credit validations for closely equivalent FYE or College Success courses in which a grade of “C-” or above has been earned. Please refer to PBA’s transfer credit policy noted in Academic Policies for further related details.
PBA Online Students:
PBA Online students satisfy the Orientation requirement with one of the 3-credit hour courses below. The designated Orientation course is required of all PBA Online students regardless of the number of transfer credits. Refer to your major in the Programs of Study for more information. - LAS 1003 - Learning and Academic Success at PBA (All PBA Online programs except BA in Ministry and BSN)
- MLS 2003 - Foundations for Christian Ministry (BA in Ministry program only)
- NUR 3803 - Transition to BSN Role (BSN program only)
VI. Physical Education, Health, and Wellness - 1 Credit Hour
VII. Social and Behavioral Sciences - 6 Credit Hours
