Graduation Requirements


 

Application for Graduation (Degree Candidacy)

Submission of an online Application for Graduation to the Office of the Registrar no later than the end of the add/drop period one semester prior to all degree requirements being completed. Applicants who apply for graduation and fail to meet requirements by the specified projected graduation date will be deferred to a later semester. The application is available on myPBA, under the Students tab, on the Commencement page.

To locate the online application:

  1. Go to: https://my.pba.edu/ICS/Students/Commencement.jnz
  2. Log into myPBA.
  3. The “Application for Graduation” is highlighted. Click the link, in the window, to get started.

Commencement Participation

In order to participate in commencement, a student must have completed all degree requirements or have special permission from the Dean. A student must also have fulfilled any Chapel, Workship or Business Office obligations, prior to participating in Commencement. All coursework must be completed at the end of the semester in which commencement is held. Students completing coursework during the summer semester will be invited to participate in the December commencement ceremony.

Commencement ceremonies for Palm Beach Atlantic University are held on the weekend immediately following final examinations of the spring semester and the weekend immediately following final examinations of the fall semester. It is expected that all candidates for graduation will participate in Commencement ceremonies.

Graduation Requirements – Master’s Level

It is the student’s responsibility to see that all graduation requirements are met.

  1. Completion of an approved program of study outlined below.
  2. Completion of all undergraduate prerequisites as applicable to the program of study. A minimum grade of “C” on all coursework and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 are required for all undergraduate prerequisites.
  3. Maintenance of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on all courses in the approved program of study.
  4. Note: Students in the Master of Business Administration and the Master of Science in Counseling Psychology programs may earn no more than 6 credit hours of coursework with a grade of “C.”
  5. Submission of an online Application for Graduation to the Office of the Registrar no later than the end of the add/drop period one semester prior to all degree requirements being completed. Completion of all degree requirements within a period of six years from the date of initial enrollment in the program.
  6. Approval by the faculty for graduation.
  7. Discharge of all financial obligations to the university.
  8. Applicants who apply for graduation and fail to meet the above requirements by the specified projected graduation date will be deferred to a later semester.

Master of Business Administration

  1. Completion of the prescribed curriculum of 36 credit hours.
  2. Completion of the Major Field Achievement Test (MFAT).

Master of Science in Counseling Psychology

Marriage and Family Track: Completion of the prescribed curriculum of 60 credit hours, 600 hours of supervised internship under a supervisor approved by the program faculty, and completion of a comprehensive examination designed to measure the student’s competencies in the field of counseling psychology.

Mental Health Track/Addictions and Mental Health Track: Completion of the prescribed curriculum of 60 credit hours, 1,000 hours of supervised internship under a supervisor approved by the program faculty, and completion of a comprehensive examination designed to measure the student’s competencies in the field of counseling psychology.

School Counseling Track: Completion of the prescribed curriculum of 51 credit hours, 180 hours of internship in a school setting under the supervision of a certified school counselor, and successful completion of a comprehensive examination designed to measure the student’s competencies in the field of counseling psychology.

Master of Science in Leadership

Successful completion of the prescribed curriculum of 40 credit hours.

Regardless of academic achievement, a student on disciplinary probation may not graduate from PBA until the probation has been removed.

Graduation Requirements - Doctor of Pharmacy

To receive the Pharm.D degree from Palm Beach Atlantic, a student must meet the following requirements:

  1. Successfully complete all prerequisite coursework for admission.
  2. Successfully complete all pharmacy coursework at PBA.
  3. Maintenance of a 2.00 cumulative GPA and a passing grade in all classes in the School of Pharmacy.
  4. Completion of community service and Chapel requirements, as applicable.
  5. Discharge of all financial and library obligations to the university.
  6. Submission of an online Application for Graduation to the Office of the Registrar no later than the end of the add/drop period one semester prior to all degree requirements being completed.
  7. Satisfactorily complete and submit the ePortfolio.
  8. Satisfactorily complete all activities of Senior Summit.
  9. Attend the Hooding Ceremony and Graduation.
