Applied Principal Music, Voice, Keyboard, or Instrumental (6 Credit Hours, minimum)
Applied Secondary Music (4 Credit Hours, minimum)
Major Ensembles (8 Credit Hours minimum in Oratorio Chorus, PBA Symphony, or Symphonic Band)
All Composition majors must pass the piano proficiency exam. Piano Class or Piano Secondary studies may be required for students who enter the program with insufficient keyboard skills.
Elective Music Courses - 6 Credit Hours
(4 hours must be upper-level)
Ensembles may not be used to fulfill elective course requirements
*Six additional required credit hours are needed to meet the 129 total and the 33 upper-level
Candidates for the Bachelor of Music degree in composition are encouraged to include the following in their electives: instrumental and vocal methods courses, private instruction in piano, and courses in literature and visual arts.
