Program Learning Outcomes


“Expected student learning outcomes specify the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes students are expected to attain in courses or in a program.” Page 69. Resource Manual for the Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), 2018.

  1. Students graduating with the MBC major will be competitive for professional/graduate programs.
  2. Students graduating with the MBC major will demonstrate technical writing skills.
  3. Students graduating with the MBC major will formulate a research proposal and relate it orally.
  4. Students graduating with the MBC major will appraise scientific literature.
  5. Students graduating with the MBC major will illustrate proper laboratory notebook.

 

General Education Requirements - 43 Credit Hours


Medicinal and Biological Chemistry majors must meet the General Education requirements as set out in General Education Program , except for the General Education Mathematics and Natural Science requirements. These are met by completing MAT 2804  and CHM 1013 /CHM 1010 . The additional SAS Natural Science requirements are met by taking CHM 1011  and BIO 1103 /BIO 1101 .

Global Studies and Social Science Requirements


One course must be selected from each of the following lists of Global Studies courses and Social Science courses.

Electives - 13 Credit Hours


Students interested in a science background could select more science courses.

Note:


Students should select electives that provide a minor and will total 42 hours of Upper Level credit within the 120 hours needed for graduation.

None of the 3000-4000 level courses in the major may be taken by transient credit.
