EOB 5093 - Research Capstone

This course is an independent research course in which the student will produce a quality masters level thesis or project. If choosing the thesis, the student will fall under the guidance of a faculty supervisor. The research thesis or project is the culminating event in the program required for graduation. The topic of the thesis/project must be relevant to the program learning objectives. Thesis students will be required to successfully defend their thesis by way of the thesis examination. The examiners will include the supervisor and an impartial faculty member with expertise on the topic and can be conducted in-person or online. An examination secretary will assist by providing the students with written feedback and changes required by the examiners that must be completed prior to submitting the thesis for final approval by the Dean. All research project students who choose not to conduct a supervised thesis will conduct their research independently and complete the project under the supervision of the course instructor. Projects and theses must be approved by the Program Director and Dean of the School prior to the degree being conferred.

Note: The thesis option is a supervised independent research project culminating in the student’s defense of their thesis by way of a structured examination and is intended to prepare students for a terminal degree or otherwise pursue a research-oriented profession.
