The Department of Chemistry, Forensic Science, Oceanography and Physics at PBA seeks to encourage its students to develop mental abilities, to think critically, to integrate Christian faith with their discipline, to understand themselves and their environment through the physical sciences disciplines. The curriculum is designed to provide a major and a minor in chemistry and to satisfy the requirements in chemistry and physics for professional programs in the medical sciences, engineering, and biology. Courses offered for non-science majors are PHY 1033 - The Cosmos PHY 1063 - Acoustics of Music , ESC 1043 - Introductory Earth Science , FOR 1003 The Science of Criminal Investigation  OCY 1043 - Oceans . Corresponding laboratory courses are available for students who need a laboratory course to fulfill their general education requirement.

The purpose of the Palm Beach Atlantic University Forensic program is to prepare students in a Christian-based environment for a professional degree that includes a rigorous science-based program. Students will be servant leaders in their field of expertise. A total of 120 credit hours are required for students enrolled in this program. Students enrolled in this program must complete a minor in addition to the courses listed. Students must complete an additional 7 hours of upper-division credits in their minor or elective courses for a total of 42 hours of Upper Level credits within the 120 hours needed for graduation.

Courses in Chemistry, Forensic Science, Oceanography and Physics:

Students must take all components of courses with co-requisites at the same time. If the student wants to withdraw from one of the components, he/she must withdraw from all components of the co-requisite courses. The only exception: if a student previously took all of the components of the co-requisite courses and received a passing grade in one of the components, the student would not have to retake the component with the passing grade.

Courses for General Education Credit:

For students taking the following General Education Courses, the laboratory course may be dropped without dropping the lecture course. The lecture course cannot be dropped while keeping enrollment in the laboratory course. The laboratory course can be taken by itself only when prior credit has been earned in the lecture course.
