General Education Requirements - 43 Credit Hours
Education majors must complete the Baccalaureate Degree Requirements as set out in the General Education Program .
- Fine Arts Requirement: Elementary Education majors must take 2 hours to meet the Fine Arts requirement.
- Global Studies Requirement: Elementary Education majors must take to meet the Global Studies requirement.
- Mathematics Requirement: Elementary Education majors must take & to meet the Math requirement.
- Science Requirement: Elementary Education majors must take BIO 1043 to meet the Science requirement. The corresponding lab (BIO 1041 ) is not required.
- Social Science Requirement: Elementary Education majors must take EDU 2133 to meet the Social Science requirement.
- History Requirement: Elementary Education majors must take HIS 2213 to meet the History requirement.
Professional Education Preparation Core - 41 Credit Hours
Residency I
One of the following will be assigned by the School of Education, based upon the student’s specialization. Elementary Education Major Requirements - 37 Credit Hours
Articulation
Students with an A.A. Degree from an accredited Florida college or university may matriculate into the elementary education program. Please refer to “Elementary Education/K-6 ESOL Endorsement Degree Plan - Students with an AA Degree” below. No minor or second semester of student teaching is required.
The following class is not required for students with an A.A. Degree: MAT 1813
Note:
Honors students majoring in Elementary Education do not need a minor, however additional Honors electives are required.
For transfer students: If the transfer student has taken and successfully completed College Algebra and Statistics, MAT 1813 will be waived. An additional assignment will be required in MAT 1823 .
