• EDU 1013 - Introduction to Teaching * Take General Knowledge exam (GK)
• EDU 2023 - Survey of Exceptionalities
• EDU 2303 - Applied Linguistics
• PLS 3003 - Freedom in American Society
• EDU 3073 - Elementary Language and Cognition (Passing GK Score waived for this class for AA students)
• Fingerprint clearance from school district
• Pass General Knowledge exam (GK)-MAT 1803 must be taken if not passing GK score on Math after 1st attempt
• Apply for First Screening - Entrance into the School of Education

Semester 2 – 18 Hours

• EDU 3033 - General Methods and Materials of Teaching
• EDU 3063 - Classroom Management, School Law, & Ethics
• EDU 3083 - Foundations of Research-Based Literacy
• EDU 4073 - Teaching Social Studies in the Elementary School
• EDU 4303 - ESOL Methods, Curriculum, & Assessment
• Pass Professional Education Exam (PED)
• Pass Subject Area Exam (SAE K-6)

Semester 3 - 18 Hours

• EDU 2313 - Cultural Dimensions of ESOL
• EDU 3173 - Foundations of Assessment
• EDU 4053 - Teaching Mathematics in the Elementary School
• EDU 4083 - Teaching Science in the Elementary School
• BIB 4153 - Christian Values and Biblical Faith
• EDU 4363 - Foundations and Applications of Differentiated Literacy Instruction
• Apply for Second Screening (Student Teaching)

Semester 4 – 15 Hours

• EDU 4042 - Student Teaching Seminar
• EDU 4393 - Practicum in Reading
• EDU 43010 - Residency I: Public School Student Teaching

Optional Semester 5 – 15 Hours

(Successful completion of this optional semester prepares candidates to apply for ACSI certification)

• EDU 3313 - Christian Concepts and Philosophical Foundations of Christian Education
• EDU 43012 - Residency II: Private, Christian, or International Teaching Fellowship
