Program Learning Outcomes


“Expected student learning outcomes specify the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes students are expected to attain in courses or in a program.” Page 69. Resource Manual for the Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), 2019.

  1. Students must demonstrate artistic and technical excellence of established various dance genres through technique course studies and performing stylistic dances.
  2. Students must demonstrate advanced skills necessary for professional level auditions in at least one dance discipline.
  3. Students must articulate their craft and their critical and abstract thinking through interpersonal communication skills, synthesizing historical, cultural, and current perspectives.
  4. Students must holistically create and perform works independently and collaboratively, using established and innovative approaches to create artistic works for production and evaluation.
  5. Students must demonstrate the characteristics of a Christ-like servant leader by recognizing community needs and societal issues and addressing them through artistic connections.
  6. Students must demonstrate exceptional leadership skills by expressing humility, boldness, and professionalism required both on and off campus.

Graduation Requirements


Conferral of a Baccalaureate degree in this program of study is determined by successful completion of the Baccalaureate Graduation Requirements outlined here .

NOTE: Students must earn 42 upper level (3000-4000) credit hours in order to graduate. A total of at least 21 of these upper level credit hours must be completed in the selected major.

Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) Requirements - 43 Credit Hours


The Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) Fine Arts requirement is fulfilled through other courses in this major. Only 41 of the 43 credit hours of the Faith, Roots, and Reason (General Education) Program will still be required for the completion of this program.

Additional Technique Courses - 4 Credit Hours


Four additional credit hours must be completed in any combination of ballet, modern/contemporary, or multicultural dance.

Dance Performance - 8 Credit Hours


Seven credit hours of Dance Ensemble are required.

Additional Required Credit Hours - 5 Credit Hours


These additional hours may be fulfilled by a minor, second major, general electives taken concurrently, previous coursework taken at PBA or through transfer credits.

Students are encouraged to choose from the following classes for their additional required credit hours. These specific courses are not required to fulfill the additional credit hours requirement.
