Play Therapy Concentration

12 Credit Hours

The Play Therapy Concentration and Graduate Certificate involves a four-course series housed within the Counselor Education program in the School of Education and Behavior Studies. The concentration is designed to provide advanced training to students in the Counselor Education program for working with children and adolescents. The certificate is available for post master’s professionals in counseling, human services, psychology, special education, expressive therapies, social work, nursing, and other relevant fields, who seek additional treatment orientated skills for working with children and adolescents.

***The Play Therapy Concentration/Certificate does not directly certify individuals in Play Therapy; however, it can be listed as a Graduate Concentration or Certificate in Play Therapy as part of one’s credentials. The four courses are designed toward meeting the educational requirement for the national credential of Registered Play Therapist through the Association for Play Therapy. For more information on how this program may prepare you, please contact the program coordinator. Applicants should also contact the Association for Play Therapy to verify the requirements needed to be registered as a play therapist.
