The Elementary Education Alternative Career major will provide an education background for students aspiring to work in private school settings, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, etc.
Student will have foundational courses needed to be an effective teacher. Students will have to meet GPA requirement and passing score on the General Knowledge exam (GK) and Professional Education exam (PED)
Requires two semesters of experiential education.
This major does not result in teacher certification.

Program Learning Outcomes

- Instructional design and lesson planning: The elementary education alternative career major will apply concepts for human development and learning theories.
- The learning environment: The elementary education alternative career major will learn how to maintain a student-centered learning environment that is safe, organized, equitable, flexible, inclusive, and collaborative.
- Instructional delivery and facilitation: The elementary education alternative career major will consistently utilize a deep and comprehensive knowledge of the subject taught.
General Education Requirements - 43 Credit Hours
Education majors must complete the Baccalaureate Degree Requirements as set out in the General Education Program .
Education Core Courses - 18 Credit Hours
Elementary Education Major Requirements - 34 Credit Hours
Experiential Education - 30 Credit Hours
Residency I - 15 Credit Hours
Residency II - 15 Credit Hours
